We are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Senior Project Manager - Liquids to lead projects in ophthalmic liquids, including endotamponades, vital dyes, and hydrogels. This role requires expertise in project management, in-depth knowledge of ophthalmic product development, and the ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams.
You will be responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Additionally, you will play a key role in advancing our ophthalmic liquid product line, driving innovations that improve patient care and expand our market presence. As a member of the liquids team, you will lead research and product development initiatives, provide technical guidance for existing liquid products, and collaborate closely with R&D, QARA, SPMD, and Marketing. Tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee multiple complex projects within the ophthalmic liquids portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Develop, refine, and implement comprehensive project plans that detail scope, timelines, resources, and critical milestones.
- Mentor and guide project team members, fostering collaboration and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Implement best practices in project management and product development to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Facilitate effective cross-functional teamwork, ensuring that all team members understand project goals and their individual responsibilities.
- Drive initiatives to leverage best practices in project management and product development, fostering innovation within the ophthalmic liquids portfolio.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to derive insights and improve processes for future projects.
- Proactively identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact on timelines and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for issue resolution, maintaining project momentum through proactive problem-solving.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring resource allocation and tracking financial performance.
- Provide regular financial updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in project expenditures.
- Prepare and communicate project status reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones to the Head of R&D Liquids and other senior stakeholders.
- Lead project review meetings to assess progress, address concerns, and align on next steps.
- Proven track record of successfully managing project teams with a keen eye on delivering complex projects and commercially viable products on time and on budget.
- General understanding of ophthalmic surgery, preferably with a good understanding of clinical applications of ophthalmic liquids.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Customer focused and product passionate.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality systems specific to ophthalmic liquids.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Good knowledge on R&D processes, quality and regulatory; proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and on budget in a medical devices/pharma environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 7+ years of significant project management experience within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry, preferably with a strong focus on ophthalmic products
- Proven experience leading cross-functional project teams, with demonstrated success in mentoring and developing talent.
