Manufacturing Engineer Automation

As a Manufacturing Engineer Automation, you will be responsible for developing and improving assembly and test equipment with a strong focus on automation.  Your role will focus on improving and implementing new equipment and driving efficiency by identifying opportunities to enhance production performance, reduce downtime, and minimize human error through innovative solutions.

In addition, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate automation technologies  into existing manufacturing processes. You will oversee the design, installation and commissioning of new process equipment, ensuring it operates effectively and aligns with performance expectations. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact by advancing operational efficiency and productivity through cutting-edge automation technologies.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assessing design solutions for manufacturability (DFA, DFT)
  • Establishing process requirements and specifications
  • Identify opportunities to enhance production efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize human error through automation
  • Use data analytics and simulation tools to test performance and optimize the equipment
  • Implement production and assembly processes/ equipment for manufacturing (could include robotics, control systems, test systems, etc.) 
  • Oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure it functions as intended (FAT, SAT, IQOQPQ)
  • Modify electrical, mechanical and/ or control systems for machines, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, Human-Machine Interface and SCADA systems
  • Provide technical support for issues related to automation systems and processes
  • Setup preventive maintenance infrastructure (TPM)
  • Support in risk analyses of assembly and test processes (PFMEA)
  • Analyzing and solving (electro)mechanical problems with machines (RCA, DMAIC)
  • Performing machine and process tests and analyzing process data (DOE)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems, diagnose issues, and develop effective solutions
  • Familiarity with simulation and modeling software (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, Solid Works)
  • Strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering principles
  • Supervising and assessing 0-series and recording the results
  • Preparing production documents (assembly manuals)
  • Training and supervising production personnel and final inspectors in production
  • Reporting on progress of projects, hours spent etc.

Do you have knowledge or experience of:

  • Regulations and standards in Medical Devices ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 60601, ISO 14971, ISO 10993 etc
  • Design for Assembly and Testing (DFA and DFT)
  • Design and construction of process aids
  • Reading technical production drawings
  • Process data analysis and specific software
  • Technical process documentation and production documents (construction file)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Dutch and English
  • A college education in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision EngineeringOr comparable level obtained through experience
  • At least 7 years' work experience in a position involving collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a Medical Devices production environment
