You will be part of the Design & Development team in R&D and work closely with experts in mechatronics, mechanics, software, and systems engineering. In this role, you take ownership of complex electronic subsystems throughout the full product lifecycle, from early concept and feasibility studies through industrialization and regulatory compliance.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronics hardware for advanced ophthalmic surgical equipment.
  • Architecture design and integration of mechatronic systems.
  • Contribute across the full development lifecycle: concept, design, verification, validation, and release.
  • Simulate, experiment and realize proof of concepts of hardware/electronic prototypes.
  • Resolving problems in released products that affect product performance or safety.
  • Feasibility studies and research into emerging relevant technologies.
  • Supervise new products in the production process.
  • Coordinate internal and external testing, inspections, and certification activities.
  • Documenting design, verification and work instructions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience in electronic hardware development and prototyping.
  • Expertise in schematic design, board-level analysis, and electronic test & measurement.
  • Experience with EDA tools such as OrCad, Altium, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with regulated product development and EMC compliance (e.g. IEC 60601 or similar standards).
  • Practical mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary, international teams.

Education and Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Approximately 10 years of experience in electronic or mechatronic product development.
  • Experience within the medical device industry or other regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive.
  • Broad technical foundation including electronics, physics, mechatronics, mechanics, and embedded systems.
  • Understanding of Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) processes.
